A presence on camera that feels like you
Many soulpreneurs feel stiff or self-conscious the moment they press record. And most video advice says the fix is more polish: a script, a teleprompter, more energy.
I’m not naturally a high-energy guy, and most of my videos aren’t that kind of influencer-high-energy either. (Although I do have a few of those!)
Over the years, I’ve developed a way of presenting myself on camera that feels deeply true and relaxing for me. This course helps you find yours:
- ✓You start by accepting your rambling and pauses. Refining comes later.
- ✓You speak from a few key points instead of a script, because viewers can see your eyes reading.
- ✓You discover your own “weird,” the qualities that make you stand out, and let more of them show on camera.
- ✓You publish, then let your viewers’ response tell you which videos to keep public.
To allow yourself to bore your audience, to make them think you’re unprofessional is the very gateway you need to walk through to become authentically powerful on camera.
What you’ll be able to do, step by step
Each module has short videos and a lesson document you can read or hand to your AI. Most also gather past students’ questions, with my answers.
I recorded the course while teaching a group of students, so you’ll hear some of their questions and examples too. Many lessons end with a short video for you to record, because confidence on camera comes from practice.
- Module 1 · Your Energy Signature on video
Feel more at ease on camera, imperfections and all
Begin by accepting your rambling and pauses as you record. Then talk to your ideal viewer, someone who loves being in your presence, and notice how your energy changes.
You’ll also explore how your energy differs from others in your niche, test eye contact for yourself, and see why you almost certainly own the gear you need already.
This module is free to watch for 72 hours: start the free Module 1 replay.
- Module 2 · Video Personas
Get camera-ready in minutes, and widen your range on video
Choose when and where you’ll record, and create an energy prep that takes about three minutes or less. Then practice speaking off the cuff, with no preparation beyond your energy prep.
Next, try on three “video personas” built from qualities you admire in others. I see personas as a way to discover more of yourself, and choose what you’d like to bring on camera.
- Module 3 · Your Signature Stories
Find, rate and keep track of your signature stories
Turn your business topics into stories with a set of reflection questions. Then star the ones that are relatable, credible, moving, distinctive, and fun for you to tell.
You’ll also learn to tell stories about real people kindly (including the mistake that cost me a client), find the insight in your own experiences, and decide which videos to keep public.
- Module 4 · Speaking Techniques to Keep Audience Engaged
Keep viewers with you, from your first seconds to your last
Practice seven speaking elements one at a time, from pauses and pitch to heart, along with phrases that fit your style.
You’ll plan how to start and end your videos, mention your credibility casually, remember what to say, and prepare each video with KIT. And if you come alive with clients but go flat alone on camera, you’ll learn two ways to bring that warmth into your videos.
- Module 5 · Concise Speaking
Say something meaningful in 90 seconds or less
Practice what I call “truth is an accordion,” the idea that any message can be said in a few words or at great length. You’ll speak on a topic, then tell your stories, in 90 seconds or less.
You’ll also learn from short videos you love, and finish with a short video of your own plan for what you’ll practice next.
Two tools from the course
KIT, for every video
- 1Key points: one to three things to say, plus how you’ll start and end
- 2Inspire yourself: your quick energy prep
- 3Trust and record: you’re prepared enough, so press record
A past student’s tip made it into the course too: record one practice take before the one you publish.
Seven speaking elements
- 1Pauses
- 2Vocal pitch
- 3Vocal volume
- 4Speed and rhythm
- 5Facial expressions
- 6Body language
- 7Heart
You practice one at a time, in the style of the persona you’re playing, until each one feels natural.

What students loved most
When students write about this course, these are the moments they mention most:
- ✓Permission to record without a script, and feeling more relaxed and more like themselves.
- ✓Trying on personas, and finding they could stretch and still feel like themselves.
- ✓Speaking to one ideal viewer, which made their videos feel warmer and more personal.
- ✓Small tools they could use right away: KIT, a three-minute energy prep, and one practice take before the one they publish.
- ✓Saying something useful in 90 seconds, and discovering that less can be more.
These reflections come from students of an earlier version of the course.
“It's been super helpful to get prompts for practicing recording videos. It's actually started to be fun, which I never expected. As a result, I've recorded my first official video for my website homepage.”
“After nearly 60 years being terrified of public speaking, I'm now wondering "What's the big deal?" … Now I just need to keep going.”

I was the kid who never spoke in class
My family immigrated from Taiwan to California when I was 7. I became the shy kid who never spoke in class (I even developed a stutter).
Years later, professors who made their classes a super encouraging place helped me find my voice. Since then I’ve made more than 2,000 YouTube videos.
I’m not naturally a high-energy guy, and most of my videos aren’t either (although I do have a few of those!). I found a way of presenting myself on camera that feels deeply true and relaxing for me.
A good fit if…
- ✓You feel stiff or self-conscious on camera, and you’d like to feel more like yourself
- ✓You shine with clients one-on-one, and want that warmth in your videos
- ✓You’d like your videos to sound like you, without a script or a studio
- ✓You’re willing to record short practice videos, rough ones included
Probably not if…
- ×You want personal coaching or feedback on your videos. This course is recorded, and you work through it at your own pace
- ×You mainly want help with cameras, lighting or editing. This course is about speaking and storytelling
- ×You’d rather read from a teleprompter. This course teaches you to speak without a script
By the end, you’ll…
- 1Have a quick energy prep, and a regular time and place to record.
- 2Know what makes your presence on camera yours, and which personas you’d like to grow into.
- 3Have a list of your signature stories, rated and ready to tell.
- 4Know how to start a video, end one, and stay on track without a script.
- 5Be able to say something meaningful in 90 seconds or less.

Before you enroll
“Do I need to show up at set times?”
No. The course is recorded, so you go at your own pace, with lifetime access.
“How much time does it take?”
The videos come to about three and a half hours, in short lessons, plus three extra clips. If you’re short on time, a welcome video points you to the three lessons I consider most essential.
Most of your time goes into recording short practice videos, at whatever pace fits your life.
“Do I have to publish my practice videos?”
No. Your practice videos can stay unlisted, so nobody needs to see them unless you share the link.
Later in the course, you’ll learn how to decide which videos to make public.
“Do I need special equipment?”
No. A phone or laptop less than ten years old is enough.
Some of the most-viewed videos online are far from studio quality, and this course focuses on your speaking.
“What if I’m not a high-energy person?”
Neither am I. More energy on video doesn’t have to mean louder or faster.
You’ll practice the more energized version of your own style, whichever persona you’re playing.
“Can’t AI just make my videos?”
AI can already turn a script into a video of a presenter. This course is about growing your own presence on camera, and becoming more fully yourself, which AI can’t yet copy.
“Can I try it before I buy?”
Yes. Module 1 is free to watch for 72 hours after you sign up with your email: start the free replay.
If you buy the course, Module 1 comes with it, along with all the others, and you keep them for life.
“Will I get personal feedback?”
The course is recorded, and it doesn’t include personal feedback on your videos. It does show you how to ask two friends to watch your videos and name what they like.
Most modules include past students’ questions with my answers, and you can bring your own questions to my free monthly Q&A call.
“Do I need your Energy Signature course first?”
No. This course stands on its own.
If you’d like to go deeper into what makes your presence yours, that’s my Your Energy Signature course.
“Can I use it with my AI?”
Yes. Give a module’s lesson document to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, and work through the course together.
